It was all came to two young fast bowlers to do some magic with the ball and give Lahore Qalandars a much needed win in the final game, both Shaheen and Rauf delivered. They had to defend 31 runs in 18 balls, when Multily Titans were very much confident to chase these runs, but these both youngsters has some other goals, they both given away only 15 runs in their three overs.
After winning the toss Multiply Titans asked Qalandars captain Sohail Akhtar to first, the opportunity was grabbed by Qalandars as they were also looking to bat first as their captain was banking on his bowling resources very much. Sohail himself is in his form of life once again lead his batting side by example scored 56 runs which helped team’s cause to reach at 148. He was well supported by Faizan (32) and Phil Salt (26). Moreki (3 for 33) and Von Berg (2 for 28) finished their spells helped their team to restrict Lahore Qalandars below 150.
Multiply Titans in reply were restricted to 133-6, they were very much comfortable crossing over the line when De Bruyn and Rivaldo Moonsamy at the crease, soon after the dismissal of Moonsamy their innings ran out of momentum. At one time Titans required 31 from last three overs and game was still in their hand, due to sensational stuff by young quick arm fast bowlers of Qalandars, leave 20 from the last over and seamer Harris Rauf bowled an excellent over to concede just five runs. The game was set in the penultimate over when Shaheen gave only four runs and took a wicket of Kuhn, then after finished brilliantly by young fast bowler Rauf.
Earlier in the last group match Multiply Titans outclassed Auckland Aces to qualify for the final they won their game by 8 wickets. Auckland Aces were all out at 80 runs only which was chased by Titans’ top order batsmen easily. It was Von Berg’s (4 for 15) brilliant bowling who restricted Auckland at this score.
Player of the Match: Shaheen Shah Afridi for his brilliant bowling performance at the death overs when team needed his fast bowling burst.
