India is becoming hot favorites to win the ongoing Asia Cup after every match as they outclassed Bangladesh in their first super four games after beating comprehensively Pakistan in group match. Ravindra Jadeja who just came in the place of Hardik also picked in the playing eleven, he was simply unplayable. Indian batting department did the rest and won their game inside 36 overs.
After winning the toss and deciding to bowl first, India dominated the major part of the innings, their recalled all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took four wickets to help India restrict Bangladesh to 173 all out. Jadeja replaced injured Hardik Pandya, who was ruled out of the Asia Cup with a back injury in the match against Pakistan, he finished his spell with 4 for 29. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (32/3) and Jasprit Bumrah (37/3) were also unplayable as Bangladeshi batting couldn´t get going with tail-ender Mehidy Hasan top-scoring from the Bangladesh innings with 42 off 50 balls. It was only one partnership who enabled Bangladesh to reach at 173, otherwise it could have been worse had Mehidy not put on a fighting 66-run partnership for the 8th wicket with Mashrafe Mortaza who made 26 with the help of 2 sixes.
It was well known fact that 174 won’t be making much impact on the run-chase to the batting line of India, one of the strong batting line-up of the Asia Cup 2018 teams. Sharma and Dhawan gave team a blistering start, what they were looking from them. They both put 61 runs on the first wicket partnership, when Shakib trapped Dhawan (40) in front of the stumps in 15th over of the innings. At the fall of first wicket Rayudu joined Rohit Sharma at the crease both added 45 more runs to the run-chase, India lost their second wicket when Rayudu departs on the delivery of Rubel and caught behind the wickets. Later Dhoni joined Rohit, who was batting brilliantly after getting his form back in the game against Pakistan. Dhoni (33) got out when team was only needed him to stay for another big shot but he wasn’t able to do so, departed on team’s total was 170, Caught by Mithun, In order to finish it with a six. Karthik who just came to finish the game had to get 1 run, he gently nudges it to the leg-side and that 1 run to the total of India makes a comprehensive victory for India by 7 wickets. Rohit Sharma carries his bat through and remained unbeaten at 83 with the help of five fours and three sixes, it can be termed as a captain’s knock.
Player of the Match: The man who just arrived in UAE to play Asia Cup 2018, got the award of best player of the match on his brilliant bowling spell of 4 for 29, he picked up the wickets of Shakib, Mushfiq, Mithun and Mosaddek.
Ravindra Jadedja: “I always wanted to make a mark when I get a chance. Finally, I got a chance today and I am very happy. Kuldeep and Chahal were also bowling well and I was getting wickets at the other end. That’s how bowling goes. I try to perform in every format. I will try to play my role with bat too if opportunity comes against Pakistan.”
