Pakistan u/23 Men Volleyball team defeated Kazakstan with a set score of 3-1 at Nay Pyi Taw, In the Asian U/23 Men Volleyball Championship

Pakistan u/23 Men Volleyball team today defeated Kazakstan with a set score of 3-1 at Nay Pyi Taw, in the Asian U/23 Men Volleyball Championship in which 16 teams including Australia and Newzealand from Oceana zone are participating.

The points were 25-21,25-18,17-25,25-21. This is Pakistan team’s 6th successive victory in this tournament. With this victory Pakistan has qualified for Semi final to be played tomorrow at 6.30 PM local time and 5 PM Pakistan time.

Pakistan team will play against the winner of INDIA vs Australia teams, which shall be played in the evening.This is for the 1st time that Pakistan’s U/23 Men team reached at Semi final stage at Asia level.Before this Pakistan’s U21 Men team had got Bronze medal in 2007.

Pakistan team won the 1st 2 sets easily but the team lost its concentration in the 3rd set and started losing points.Getting this opportunity, Kazakstan team put maximum pressure and won the 3rd set with a score of 25-17.Pakistan team however regrouped itself and won the 4th set with a score of 25-21.

2. This performance of Pakistan team is as a result of 2 years efforts put in by Pakistan Volleyball Federation when the services of Mr Hamid Movahedi were highered and a training camp of youth and junior players was initially established at Peshawar and then shifted to Islamabad sports complex. This year, training camp of U/23 boys was established in Islamabad PSB hall in early May under Mr Kim. , Coach from Korea whose services were highered by Pakistan Volleyball Federation out of its meagre resources.However, it may be said that PSB (under Ministry of IPC) fully cooperated with Pakistan Volleyball Federation and established these training camps which helped grooming young players, which is showing results now.

3.In today’s match Murad Khan, Hamid, Umer Faryad and Fahad(Captain) had major contribution.Fahad was a little out of form in previous matches but today he again showed his class.He has regained his confidence, which was extremely necessary for coming matches
