Corporate T20 Cup’s seventh edition witnessed two exciting games; the first game was comfortably won by K-Electric against National Bank of Pakistan. In other game, State Bank of Pakistan crushed Candyland by a heavy margin of 149 runs.
In the first game of the day, National Bank of Pakistan won the toss and their captain Shan Masood decided to put K-Electric into bat. K-Electric grabbed the opportunity in both hands. They posted a match-winning total of 179 in their 20 overs. Ramiz Aziz did their job to reach that total; he scored 55 off 33 balls. Mohammad Asghar once again performed brilliantly with the ball in his hand; he picked up 3 wickets for just 21 runs in his four overs. In reply apart from Shan Masood rest of the NBP batsmen looked deserted against the bowlers of the K-Electric. Shan Masood added 43 runs to the team’s total of 120. M Mohsin was K-Electric’s stand-out bowler of the innings by picking up 3 wickets for 16 runs.
Ramiz Aziz got the player of the match award for his 55 runs to the teams’ total.
State Bank of Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first in the second game of the day. SBP’s start wasn’t as per the expectations as they lose their three wickets at 5 runs and they were in all sorts of troubles. After this disappointing start, their innings was well guided by Ammad Butt and Captain Saad Ali, both played a counter-attacking cricket. Both put 58 runs partnership where Ammad Butt was the major contributor with 20-ball 50 runs innings which included 6 towering sixes and 2 beautiful fours. After Ammad, Saad was joined by the teenager Rohail Aziz. They both played forceless cricket and added 130 runs together. Saad Ali (73 off 41) and Rohail (81 off 45) scored at a good pace; SBP finished their innings at 221. Mirza Bilal Baig and Ali Jaidi claimed two wickets each. In reply, Candyland batting side looked clueless against the bowlers of SBP. They played their complete 20 overs and could only score 72 runs on the board. Not major contributions with the bat from the Candyland. Fawad Khan picked up two wickets for only 11 runs, while Taj Wali, Usman Afridi and Ammad Butt claimed one wicket each.
Player of the match was awarded to a teenager Rohail Aziz who hit 6 Sixes and 4 Fours in his 81 run innings.
