Social Media Reactions: Rajputs turn the page

After the loss of the first game in the second round Rajputs’ captain Brendon McCullum shown a major concern and asked his team to “turn the page” quickly. Tonight his team returned with an empathic performance against the Punjabi Legends to win the game by 12 runs, with this win their hopes are still alive in the competition to be part of the playoffs and eventually for the winning second edition of T10 league.

Toss won by the Punjabi Legends captain who put Rajputs to bat first on a better pitch to bat on; Rajputs opened with Shehzad and Rossouw, they started brilliantly during the power play scored 34 runs. Rossouw clean bowled on the very last ball of the power play in a result to a excellent delivery of the Zahir Khan, he made 26 off 11 balls. Followed by more contributions by the Shehzad 24 off 18, Brathwaite 23 off 9 and McCullum’s 28 off 15 enabled them to post 117 in their 10 overs. Tonight’s batting card was a bit impressive as every chipped in and contributed to the team’s cause of making big scores, which was missing in the previous two games Rajputs played.

Punjabi Legends chase never got going, only Umar Akmal and Philip Salt were the major contributors for the Punjabi Legends, both made 34 runs each in 19 and 17 balls; wasn’t enough to cross the line nevertheless every Rajput bowler bowled brilliantly per their job, especially Brathwaite who had given away only 18 runs and got the vital wicket of Evin Lewis up-front, Young Leg-spinner Qais Ahmed also bowled an inexpensive spell given away only 17 runs in his two overs. While the skillful Tymal Mills and Munaf Patel picked up two scalps each.

McCullum and his team are going to play their next game on 30th of December against Northern Warriors and will be eyeing to win that game with a better margin to boost their net run-rate, which will eventually help them to qualify for the play-offs of the T10 League 2.0.

Punjabi Legends 105 for 6 after 10 overs (Philip Salt 34*, Umar Akmal 34; Tymal Mills 19/2, Munaf Patel 21/2)
